From Trend-Driven Loyalty to New Seller Protections: What Buyers Need to Know This Week

Market Insights (with buyer lens)

1) Germany: loyalty is moving from brands to trends

A new SAP Emarsys study shows Gen-Z in Germany is more loyal to the product than the brand. Viral formats (e.g., TikTok) increasingly trigger purchase intent; a third of consumers would buy directly from creator recommendations. What this means for you:

  • Plan faster product refresh cycles and limited drops; prioritise SKUs with clear, visual “shareability”.

  • Bundle proof points (durability, certifications, sustainability) into short-form content. Trend wins attention; proof converts.

2) EU looks at taxing low-value imports (Temu/Shein)

Several EU capitals are considering closing the “low-value” de-minimis loophole with VAT/fee changes on small parcels. Why it matters:

  • If enacted, landed costs for ultra-low-price competitors rise, narrowing the price gap with compliant importers and EU distributors.

  • Prepare playbooks for local stock, IOSS/VAT readiness and clearer price–value storytelling; this is a chance to win back margin and shelf space.

3) Amazon adds Seller Challenge under AHA

For sellers enrolled in Account Health Assurance, Seller Challenge allows up to one post-appeal challenge per listing-level enforcement (decision due in 48 hours). So what:

  • Category managers get greater continuity of assortment during disputes, but note the listing stays down while under review.

  • Choose partners with strong compliance hygiene (documentation, testing, traceability) to reduce the risk of takedowns in Q4.
